About Hassan Farrahi
Hassan’s main interests are to explore the neurobiological and psychological mechanisms of emotional disorders especially generalized anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder and understand the mechanisms of the psychological treatments in order to individualize the evidence-based treatments. Specifically, he utilizes the fMRI-based neuroimaging techniques for predicting the treatment response with the goal of increasing the success of the treatments and reducing the drop in treatments. Hassan’s main training in the field of psychotherapy was cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for emotional disorders. As a Ph.D. candidate with Dr. Oghabian, he is studying the fMRI-based neural correlates of emotion generation/regulation and functional connectivity in patients with generalized anxiety disorder, and using them for predicting the therapeutic response to CBT. He received the BA in psychology from the University of Tabriz and the MSc in clinical psychology from Tehran Institute of Psychiatry (Iran University of Medical Sciences), and before becoming a Ph.D. student in clinical psychology at 2014 in Iran University of Medical Sciences, he joined the Department of Psychiatry, Guilan University of Medical Sciences.
